You want to let go of worry and take up more space in your relationships. It feels like a big part of you is stuck and wants to express itself. You’ve been doing the 'supposed' right thing, struggle with the confidence to say no, and feel angry a lot. You think, “I'm too much to handle, I can't say no, ugh, they'll get upset". You want peace and confidence. You want to express your real self and transform your relationship with yourself and others. I bring a warm, compassionate, curious, real-life, practical approach to therapy. Clients describe me as warm, empathic, open, a great listener, and challenging. I wholeheartedly commit to showing up authentically. I am honest and genuine, admit my mistakes, and will validate the impact I have on you. I am comfortable with the uncomfortable parts and will discuss any topic with you, whether it be death, money, sex, deep desires, and longings. I do not shy away from being uncomfortable, especially if that means you can grow.

Being a psychotherapist means being available to you in a way that is different from other forms of human relatedness. It means I listen to the painful events and relationships troubling you in your life and open a conversation about them between us. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the State of Ohio, a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC)in both states, and a National Certified Mental Health Counselor (NCMHC) as well. All change occurs in five (5) stages. Motivation, knowledge, understanding of responsibilities, and limits of control allow my clients to have the power of confidence to overcome the fear resulting from not understanding or misunderstanding the circumstances surrounding them. Goals and objectives are based on understanding, preparation, and action in order to reach your desired and deserved state of a higher quality of life. The first session serves to establish a therapeutic alliance or relationship to embark on the healing journey of therapy together. I guide my clients through processes and therapies that I have been through and that have worked for me and my myriad of clients.

Hi, I’m Julie. If you’ve ever felt stuck in emotional or relationship patterns that don’t fully make sense, you’re not alone. Many thoughtful, self-aware people find themselves repeating reactions or struggles they wish they could change. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My approach focuses on understanding how earlier experiences shape the ways we relate to ourselves and others. Together we explore the deeper emotional learnings that may be keeping certain patterns in place so meaningful, lasting change can occur. I incorporate experiential and somatic practices when helpful to support emotional awareness and nervous system regulation. My goal is to create a collaborative space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to move toward the life you want.

Mental health and wellbeing has always been a passion for me. I believe that counseling is a catalyst to create change in our lives. My role as a therapist is to provide feedback, be witness, offer support and provide resources as clients seek to achieve therapy goals. I practice a person-centered, collaborative approach to counseling while utilizing cognitive behavioral and mindfulness techniques. I develop a customized treatment plan to fit the individual needs of each client. It is truly an honor to support my clients as they seek to live their best life. I specialize in treating anxiety and depression and enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan. As a former teacher and school counselor, I also have experience with a wide variety of issues children and adolescents face including: anxiety disorders, ADHD, school adjustment difficulties, and stress management. A strong therapeutic relationship is essential to good therapy. First and foremost, I provide a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. Welcome! I am a mother to six children ranging in ages 23 to 9. One in college, one serving her country and four keeping me busy at home. I am also a Combat medic Army veteran having served all over the world including beautiful Afghanistan. Before I would join the military, I was a 9th grade high school drop-out. Literally born on the floor of an old shack in Florida having experienced extreme hardship. It was the military that showed me a new way of life and possibilities. After completing the coursework to catch up, I started to notice that helping others get to the root of their challenges gave me hope. I was inspired by those around me also seeking to change, make a better life for themselves or sometimes just work out the kinks we all have. It was then I decided to go back to school with six children to attain my licenses needed to become a psychotherapist. In the past I have worked with trauma survivors and through this and my own life I have come to realize that one person can change the trajectory of a person’s life. If I can be that one person, to listen empathically in a space in which you feel seen and heard, I’ve met the mark. And if I don’t make the mark- I’m so laid back I don’t mind being told. You are the expert of your own life and I am inspired by the resilience we see in humans when it seems impossible.
