Welcome! You’re taking a tremendous step by reaching out for therapy. It’s often a very hard step to make. Hoops to jump through, filling out forms, finding time to look at profiles, thinking about who might be able to help, then eventually finding a time that works for you and the therapist. It takes a lot of work. You making it this far in the process is proof that you’re really motivated and ready to feel the way you want to feel. My experience is in addictions, anxiety, depression, stress management, grief, and career development. The people who tend to choose to work with me are those experiencing life changes such as career changes, retirement, empty nest, new parent, illness or injury, divorce, and loss. Though general burnout prevention and stress management has become my “specialty”, I prefer looking at the whole picture. You are not equal to the things that are weighing you down, you are not equal to the mistakes you've made, and you are not equal to what you've been through. There is so much more to you and together we will focus on all of it. We will address overall wellness and patterns of times you’ve felt good and times you’ve felt bad. If you’ve participated in counseling before, you know that every counselor is different and every experience is different. It’s important that we’re on the same page about the process, which is something we’ll talk about the first time we meet. I’m here to listen to you and offer suggestions, but there’s no magic solution. And things aren’t always easy or fun. This is your journey with bumps and wrong turns and sometimes surprises that are better than you imagined. But it’s your journey and I am only here to keep you company and help you find your way. Regardless of how long the journey lasts or what the path is like, I look forward to joining it with you.

I utilize my training in neuro-biology, mindfulness and meditation, twelve step recovery, attachment trauma, cognitive behavioral therapy, and relational boundaries to offer education and assist you with processing the particular content that is bringing you to Employee Assistance Services at this time. Long term problems do not necessarily require long term solutions. By employing the latest evidence based treatments, I aim to maximize durable change in the least amount of time. As my client, you will find me to be a patient & empathic listener. I strive to view life through your eyes so that I can be best positioned to help you attain rapid improvement. Together we will develop a plan that targets your areas of concern. As part of the therapy process, I will teach you empowering techniques that will enable you, after you leave therapy, to become your own master therapist to yourself. I utilize the latest innovations in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, as well as other approaches, to help clients resolve their issues as quickly as possible, saving you time and money. One of the exciting things about the therapy I employ is that problems start to be seen as opportunities for growth, rather than obstacles to happiness. My clinical experience is broad and varied. It ranges from those very significantly impaired by mental illness to clients seeking guidance in making a career choice. I also have training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidenced based short-term therapy. Open to working with children/adolescents 13 years and older.

I graduated from the University of South Dakota with my Master of Social Work degree. Throughout my career I have enjoyed working with a variety of clients and have experience with children, adolescents and adults in group, couples and individual therapy. My career has given me the opportunity to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings along with providing telehealth therapy services to individuals across SD. I certified in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and have provided DBT in individual and group format. I work with clients on a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, emotional intensity, bipolar disorder, trauma, and grief. I also have experience working with couples and individuals to address interpersonal difficulties. The most rewarding part of therapy for me is helping clients realize their own strengths and capacity to make healthy changes in their lives. I grew up in a small town in Sod, WV on a farm surrounded my animals. It was truly my happy place. In 2020, my family made the move to Florida where we live now. While living in WV with the change of seasons was nice for a long time, moving closer to the beach had always been a dream of ours. Florida has been a great change. I have always wanted to help others navigate life’s ups and downs because we all have them. Counseling is a wonderful process designed to help individuals and couples work on what they feel is creating issues in their lives. As a counselor, I meet each client where they are and provide unconditional positive regard to each person. Counseling is a journey where each client must be willing to put in the work for progress to be made. I sometimes tell my clients, “If it were easy, everyone would be doing it”. However, making changes is difficult. I do think we can learn to tap into our strengths, alter our thinking about events and ultimately live a happier life. Supporting and helping each person be their best self, while witnessing it happen, is why I love my job. In counseling, I use SFBT, CBT, REBT, and creative interventions to name a few.
