Hello, I'm Dennis Alvarez PsyD, LPC. Counseling should encourage and challenge individuals to meet their fullest potential by addressing their mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. When I work with clients, I like to help them understand how and why certain behaviors or patterns occur. I work with individuals with a history of depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse issues. Unfortunately, these issues often lead to problems with relationships at home, work or school. Sometimes, people will have physical or somatic symptoms that can result in chronic health problems. Much of my previous research focused on the long-term effects of trauma and how it can lead to physical symptoms or illnesses. In my practice, I use an integrative approach to treatment. I utilize a variety of modalities, including CBT, Individual/Adlerian psychology, and Neurofeedback, to help clients manage or alleviate their symptoms.
