LPC
It is my belief that therapy should be a team effort between client and therapist. While this may seem obvious, it may be more difficult than it sounds due to a client's past experiences. I strive to make this an easy process by providing support and acceptance. There will be no judgement here. As a team, you and I will work toward identifying your desired outcome in counseling, your strengths, and begin pursuing the desired outcome during the first meeting. My counseling style is to be supportive, nonjudgmental and empower clients to choose a more peaceful, healthy pathway in life. Each person has their own unique journey in life and I want to respect that journey. I welcome feedback from you regarding your treatment and progress. I practice as a strength- based therapist, focusing on clients' strengths and solutions. I use evidence-based therapy techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I like to take a holistic approach that looks at the whole person and not just their mental health needs. It is important to consider a client’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. A holistic approach focusses on a person’s wellness and not just their illness or condition. I have twenty- four years in the counseling field and have worked in a variety of counseling settings including a domestic violence agency, community mental health center, and private practice. Currently in private practice, I provide counseling services to clients who experience job related stress, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, depression, anxiety, anger issues, past trauma, grief/loss, and addictive behaviors. I specialize in treating adults and teens experiencing depression and anxiety, issues resulting from past trauma caused by childhood abuse, domestic violence, or other distressing life events. Additionally, I am trained and have experience with treating clients who struggle with addictions including alcohol/drug, pornography, or sexual addiction. Last of all, I have training and experiencing in treating people with co-occurring disorders, which are mental health issues and addictions happening at the same time such as depression and alcoholism Reaching out for help can be scary because you think you should be able to cope on your own. You do not have to endure these struggles alone. It is time to gain education, skills, and support to feeling better. Sharing feelings and concerns in a safe environment can be extremely beneficial and healing. The idea of having someone listen and offer a new direction from what you are used to can be very empowering. Whatever struggles you are facing today, there can be a new pathway to peace. I am here to help you find that pathway to learn, heal and grow. Open to working with adolescents 13 years and older.
