I am Melissa Painter, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Mississippi. I believe that life is about relationships, so my goal is to help clients strengthen their relationships with self and others. I endeavor to help clients live more fulfilling lives by empowering them with resources to deal with the issues they are facing.
I base my approach on the needs of each client. I most often use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy.
I have worked in the past with a predominantly geriatric population, helping them cope with anxiety, depression, grief, and other life issues. I also have experience working with couples and women. I am certified in Prepare/Enrich Premarital and Marital Counseling.
I try to listen to my clients more than I talk. I strive to be honest and direct, as well as calm and compassionate. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking to me and trust that their privacy and well-being are my top priorities.
