Note- My calendar availability is not all I have to offer. I add availability for new patients at different times according to my caseload. Once we have an initial session you and I will schedule follow up sessions during our appointment. I have an extensive background in working with those who come from and/or are in a hard place. Much of my social work experience was gained during my 15 years with Child Protective Services. From 2015-2019, I worked as a psychotherapist, both through private practice and at UT Behavioral Health. I provided individual, group, marital, and family therapy with children, adolescents, and adults. In 2019, I shifted my focus fully to my private practice. I specialize in working with patients who suffer from struggles related to anxiety, depression, grief, substance use, self-esteem/self-worth, work-related issues, primary/secondary trauma, self-care, unresolved childhood grief, relationship conflict, boundary and communication struggles, breakups/divorce, familial discord, and issues related to race, culture, gender, and religion. If a patient’s needs require more specialized care outside of my scope of practice and expertise, I will assist them in finding the help they are looking for. I have received specialized training in working with adult and child victims of abuse/neglect, conflict revolving around family discord (court-ordered and non-court-ordered), and specialize in working with first responders, veterans, and sexual trauma victims. I am trauma-informed and an evidence-based treatment practitioner having attended training from the nation’s most well respected researchers. To put it simply, I want everyone who comes in contact with me to know I see worth in them. I see someone doing the best they can with the tools they currently have. I see a desire within them to do better and feel better. My goal is to plant seeds of hope within others’ hearts and empower them to realize they have what it takes to make a positive change. I practice as a strength-based therapist, focusing on clients’ identified strengths and positive qualities. I am honored when someone chooses to allow me to be witness to their personal journey work. I believe self-awareness is someone’s best tool towards healing and making positive changes. When someone has a better understanding of what is happening, they begin to have a better understanding of what they need. For this reason, much of my initial focus is spent helping someone understand not only why they may be feeling, thinking, coping, behaving the way they are but also, what they can do to impact their own change. Education about the brain and body are instrumental in someone gaining tools in this area, which is where some of my specialized training comes in. Once someone has awareness and tools they can begin working to better negotiate their needs and communicate more effectively in their relationships.
