My therapeutic approach stems from a statement that was made by one of my professors in graduate school. She said, "Therapy is just a conversation between two people."
I have been utilizing this approach both for myself and to assist in making the people I am working with feel more comfortable. I originally became a therapist because I was well aware of the help that is needed throughout multiple challenges in my own life. People are struggling with so many things and having this 'safe conversation' can be very beneficial. I believe change happens when we are listened to, understood, and validated. My therapeutic approach focuses on assisting others in increasing self-awareness, understanding common challenges, and the benefits of setting healthy boundaries. I also focus on helping others 'get to know themselves' by learning to identify needs, feelings, negative thought patterns, as well as effective coping strategies that will build personal and emotional strength along the way.
