I have practiced in the same community for over 10 years and through the pandemic fell in love with telehealth services. As a therapist I am open regarding my own mental health experiences. Having a place to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgement or retaliation is invaluable. The human experience is a group one- we need others to see things clearly- that's where therapy comes in. The relationship with your therapist can act as a practice area for setting boundaries, practicing newly obtained interpersonal skills, while simultaneously receiving caring, nurturing, and honest feedback supportive of your own mental health goals. The time spent in therapy is yours; you control the journey. Working collaboratively on your identified areas of desired change creates a dynamic often not found in other relationships.
