Ever since I can remember helping others has been my passion. As a daughter of immigrants, I witnessed my parents help others with compassion and understanding. I carry those examples with me everyday and mindfully practice them to better serve others.
As a first generation Latina woman I experienced many of the same experiences other first generation Latinx and professionals of color experience. I have been on the other side of the chair and understand how difficult it can be to ask for help. I understand the stigma related to receiving mental health services and I am proud of you for taking the first steps! I believe that having a shared experience with those I work with will strength the therapeutic relationship and our work together.
I have over 10 years of mental health experience working in various setting including nonprofit organizations, domestic violence shelters, government, and hospital settings. My extensive experiencing has allowed me the opportunity to work with children, adults, and older adults from different cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds, social economic status, gender identity, and sexual preference.
My Approach:
I work under a multicultural and trauma informed lens that allows me to understand your individual needs and meet you where you are in your journey. I specialize in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitize and Reprocessing) which allows me to focus on your currents needs to help create trust within the therapeutic relationship.
I specialize in helping individuals heal from trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression, through an EMDR lens to help desensitize and reprocess negative thoughts and emotional distress.
