I’m Rachel Thornburg, a genuine person facing my own challenges, just like my clients, which is why I adopt an informal style to help them feel comfortable. While I work efficiently, I guide clients with compassion and understanding. My greatest strength comes from the trauma I’ve experienced, enabling me to empathize deeply with their struggles.
I devote a lot of my time to video games, proudly calling myself a gamer, even if I'm not the best. I love the great outdoors, dreaming of camping trips with fishing galore. I have a vocal music minor which means I enjoy music that tells stories and has beautiful harmonies where I am able to sing along.
During my degree journey, I stumbled upon an incredible chance to work in an outpatient program with court-mandated clients facing addiction. This experience created a profound passion for helping individuals break free from addiction and embrace recovery. This experience has sharpened my ability to understand my clients' needs, explore their challenges, and customize their recovery paths, fostering hope for a brighter tomorrow.
In my career, I've had the joy of supporting teens, adults, couples, and various groups. While I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I blend in other methods too. Lately, I've been exploring Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which shows great promise. Above all, I prioritize tuning into my clients' needs with empathy, creating space for both tears and laughter.
