Hello! My name is Daniris; I consider myself to be a dedicated and results-driven Bilingual Mental Health Counselor with a passion for providing culturally sensitive therapy to diverse populations. With 10 years of experience, I’ve had the pleasure of working with people from all walks of life, who are committed to doing the work and hold a deep desire to experience life on their own terms. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work has been creating safe spaces for people from different cultures to navigate dual identities and deeply understand what makes them unique and special. Culturally, I am from the Dominican Republic. My family emigrated to the United States shortly before I was born, so my experience involves a beautiful mixture of first generation American growing up in the Bronx, NY and very humble, culturally rich Summers spent in the Dominican Republic. Both elements have taught me the importance of family, community, boldness, confidence, and following your dreams. With this in mind, my values focus on pushing myself to accomplish my goals and aspirations despite the curveballs that life throws at you. As a therapist, these values often shine through my work. If you ask my clients three elements that come to mind about our work, they would say: deeply insightful conversations, blunt/honest accountability, and compassionate, guiding light. It’s true…I asked them, and I couldn’t agree more. The best part of my job is helping people heal in their darkness as they work on finding their light (i.e. the best version of themselves). Who are my people? - Early Adulthood (17-30) - Middle Adults (31-50) Dealing with issues related, but not limited to life transitions, imposter syndrome, toxic work environments, low self-esteem, poor boundaries, anxiety, depression, grief, unhealthy relationships (romantic and family), and trauma (childhood abuse/neglect, intimate partner violence). My approach is to meet you where you are and work collaboratively as we take into account past adverse experiences that impact your current reality and continue keeping you stuck. I am often creative in using the approach that best fits your needs whether it is talk therapy, worksheets, and/or experiential activities. In clinical terms, my approach is “client-centered psychotherapy” and “narrative therapy”. My goals for you? Here are some of the results my clients have achieved: - Ended a 10-year emotionally abusive relationship and lost 15lbs from lower stress levels - Reduced the intensity of anxiety and panic to begin living a stress-free life - Healthy processing of grief, repaired relationship with alcoholic parent, and built a new career - Left a toxic work environment to make more money and establish a healthy work-life balance - Healed from a recent trauma and walked away from unhealthy relationship with ease - Challenged negative beliefs and decreased depression episodes
