My philosophy is rooted in equity, justice, belief in our ability to heal, and the idea that we come into the world knowing ourselves well until life happens at us, to us, with us, or in response to us. Our wounding is created in relation to others (generally in childhood), and that is where our healing must take place as well. The therapeutic relationship is just one such site. I practice interpersonal process therapy, emphasizing relationships & early experiences. IPT highlights the healing power of a caring, confiding relationship. My goal is to create a brave, secure, exploratory space in which we contextualize, hold, and confront the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral challenges in a person's life. I place critical value on the context of an individual's life and the power dynamics at play within the culture-at-large and the therapeutic relationship. I know that healing is possible and that it looks different for everyone, so I innovate alongside folks to find the way for them. With me, what you see is what you get. I am funny, authentic, warm, engaging, dynamic, intuitive, empathic, analytical, and sharp. My areas of specialty are intersectional racial & gender justice therapeutic approaches, queer, trans, NB folks, young people (15+), life transitions, cultural trauma response, counternarrative, meaning-making, and anxiety/depression. I have been practicing for 25 years.
Open to working with adolescents ages 15 and older.
