I began my professional journey as a young adult working in various settings with people struggling to make better choices. As I worked with individuals from widely diverse backgrounds and walks of life, I began to appreciate the power of one hand reaching out. I became profoundly aware that most people are able to build a more fulfilling life, not because of good advice, but because another person was willing to walk with them, assist them in navigating unfamiliar territory, and be part of the process of discovering their potential. As a counselor, I view any obstacle a person is facing as an opportunity to develop a rich story of navigating new paths. While all of us face painful and difficult experiences, I believe these provide an opportunity to connect, and discover unconditional acceptance of self and others. I primarily work with children, adolescents, teens, and families as a part of their process to become their most authentic, resilient self. I am dedicated to being present while people address painful experiences and move toward healing through discovery of the internal strength each person possesses. I have a master’s degree in professional counseling in which I am licensed through the state of Texas as a professional counselor (LPC). I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas in the area of Human Development and Family Science. My 10+ years of counseling experiences include working at an Outpatient facility, Inpatient Hospital, Charter School, and Public School. My counseling philosophy is based on the belief that we all want/need to feel accepted for who we are in order to accept and integrate the various parts of ourselves. I draw from various therapy methods, throughout the process, depending on the individual client's needs. It is my goal to provide a safe space, free of judgment or criticism, in which clients feel comfortable exposing and exploring their innermost thoughts and feelings. I view the counseling process as a collaborative effort between client and counselor and believe it is most successful when both parties are fully committed. "Change is possible", I believe each individual has the ability to make changes in their lives by drawing from their unique strengths and experiences. Open to working with children/adolescents 6 years and older.
