I specialize in working with people of color who are looking to get support with their mental health. I identify as a black and Latinx therapist. I believe in working collaboratively and ensuring that therapy is a place where people can become curious about themselves and less judgmental. I work from a strength-based model assisting clients in instilling a sense of purpose and happiness. In addition to using strengths-based skills, I use mindfulness skills to create awareness of our daily self-talk, emotions, and day-to-day interactions. My specializations include working with Spanish speakers, depressive and anxiety symptoms, self-esteem, relationship stress, women's issues, and work-related stress. I also work with substance abuse issues, specifically exploring the relationship between substance use and mental health symptoms. My goal is to help you facilitate a healthy relationship with yourself and work towards being as authentic as possible.
Therapy is a place to process emotions and learn skills to regulate emotions, enhance communication skills, and develop interpersonal techniques. I also incorporate a psychoeducation aspect, which may include homework, guides, and material to review in between sessions.
Regardless of your status - being single, married with or without children, I am here to guide you in your journey of self-exploration and healing. My therapeutic approach is interactive, pragmatic, and direct; I am fully present while you explore and learn new and more functional ways to find your best self. Starting therapy takes courage; by looking into the right therapist, you just started your journey of mapping out the road and being in the driver's seat of your life again. I absolutely love what I do, and I love the relationships I build with my clients. I believe the relationship with your therapist is the main curative factor in therapy, and thus I take these relationships very seriously. I look forward to hopefully building a warm, open relationship with you.
