Curtis Denham

LPC

Therapist

$100 per session

ADHD, Bipolar Spectrum Disorders, Depression, Generalized Anxiety, Grief, Substance & Alcohol Abuse

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed in Missouri. I have been working with clients for 17+ years. I have a varied background including working with those that suffer from substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, life adjustment issues such as disability and retirement. I've also worked with many clients over the years that have suffered trauma related to abuse. As a counselor, I believe in treating everyone with respect and dignity. I always find it an honor to walk the path with clients on their journey. Your treatment will always go in the direction that you believe that it should. That doesn't mean I won't make the occasional suggestion but those suggestions will always be based on what you, as the client, say or want to pursue. It definitely takes courage to enter into therapy and address whatever issues are holding you back. If you are ready to take this step, I'm definitely ready to walk with you on your journey.

“An Arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back, it means that it is going to launch you into something great.” Life has its way of pulling us backward, but I believe with positive support, healthy coping skills and processing through things that are dragging you back; you can learn to thrive and launch yourself into greater things. I have worked in the mental health field for over ten years. Throughout my time working in mental health I have worked with clients with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders and substance and alcohol use disorders. My greatest skill as a therapist is being able to work with clients and help them feel accepted, heard and understood. I have been trained in many therapy modalities and use these skills to help clients learn coping skills to better manage and cope with daily stress and symptoms they have previously suffered from. I believe change is possible.

ADHD, Abuse (sexual, emotional, physical), Depression, Generalized Anxiety, PTSD, Phobias, Relationship Issues, Trauma

Welcome! If you’re here reading this, this is probably a particularly hard moment in your life. I can imagine you’re dealing with worry and quite a bit of stress, maybe related to a recent trauma, work, or your relationship. Or you might be looking for help for your child or teen because you’re not sure what else to do at this point. With 10 years of experience as a therapist and another 10 in teaching and social services, I’ve helped people with a pretty wide variety of issues, and I would be more than happy to support you as well. I specialize in a few different areas, and I enjoy the work I do. When working with adults, I can help with problems like trauma, high anxiety, and life stress. I also have advanced training in helping kids with trauma and PTSD, and I often incorporate some pretty cool virtual play therapy tools to help them feel more safe and connected, even online. I also see couples, and use strategies from a popular approach called Gottman Therapy that helps you better understand and feel closer to each other. If we do meet I think you’ll find that I’m pretty down to earth. When not in online sessions I like to play competitive strategy games and take my Doodle to the local dog park. Even if you’ve never been to therapy before, I suspect you’ll feel at home pretty quickly (plus you can actually stay in your home)! I would be happy to meet you and see how I can help. Just schedule an intake to get started and I’ll see you soon.

My objective as a counselor is pretty straightforward: I’m here to help you take better care of you. I have been a licensed professional counselor in Missouri since 2012. During that time I have committed to providing unconditional acceptance for all clients, to be attentive, direct, compassionate and open-minded. We’re all in this together. I use combined concepts of cognitive behavioral, person-centered, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral and existential therapies to keep the proper pace with each client as we navigate the complicated pathways that make everyone’s journey unique. I work with people from every walk of life, including those with addictions, mental illness, behavioral or relationship problems or just general life confusion. All sexual orientations, races and religions (or no religion) are respected in my practice. I work best with clients from ages 6 to 99. If you need someone to help find solutions so you can take better care of you, I would be happy to be of service. Open to working with children/adolescents 6 years and older.
